SOGS Research Library

Our SOGS Genealogy Library is now located in our office at 1487 N. High St., Suite 450, in the North High Business Center. Enter the building through the Health Department entrance. The  library will be available by appointment and by scheduled times.  If and when you visit Highland County to do ancestral research and want to use the library other than regularly scheduled you will need to make an appointment.  To make an appointment send an email to: with the following information: 1. 2. 3. from below.

  1. Name of person requesting an appointment to do research in the library.
  2. Their e-mail address and a cell or land line phone number.
  3. Three choices of dates and times that you will be available to visit.
  4. One of our volunteers will then contact you and set a date and time for a visit.
  5. If you are able to visit on one of our scheduled open days: Monday and Friday,        12:00 to 4:30 you will not need to make an appointment.  See full schedule is listed on home page.
  6. We have a copier available for you to use at 25 cents for members & 50 cents for non-members per page.
  7. Please bring change to pay for copies.
  8. You may photo graph documents or use a portable scanner.
  9. Our library houses over 600 local family histories.  We also accept your local family histories.
  10. The Highland County Health Department is across the hall from our office/library where you can get birth and death records.
  11. We also have Highland Co. census records, tax records, property record indexes, will and estate records, military records.
  12. WE also have more that 1000 genealogy records of individuals who have been certified as First & Second Families of Highland County.
  13. We will also have 85 SOGS publications available for purchase by cash or check.
