  • The Southern Ohio Genealogical Society was founded in 1976 as a non-profit educational organization
    having published over 85 books related to local genealogy and history.

  • The Southern Ohio Genealogical Society seeks to foster the study of Highland County genealogy,
    assists members in the collection, compilation, genealogical and historical records, sponsors and
    encourages educational programs, publishes original research books, paper and reprints of earlier
    works, and works with members and others to support and encourage interest in genealogy and history.

  • SOGS is a member of the National Genealogical Society and the Ohio Genealogical Society.

  • SOGS has established a genealogy resource library at Southern State Community College in the
    Learning Resource Center.

  • Regular program meetings of the Society, open to the public, are held at 7:00 p.m. on the second
    Thursday of the month from September to December and from March to June.  Meetings are held at
    Southern State Community College, Hillsboro, Ohio.

  • Membership dues are $12.00/year per household.
